If you add web content like Jubilee Jump to your desktop then it is stuck there until you disable it. Then you would have to go back into desktop properties to get it back again.

I'm on the lookout for an application that is more flexible. I'll let you know if I find one.

Here's a uselful alternative to email. The Forum's 'Instant Messaging' saves private messages for recipients to read next time they visit. The line on the top right, under the 'Hello' indicates whether or not a member has any messages.

You can send a message by clicking the 'Send this member a private message' link at the bottom that member's profile, or by clicking the under the member's name beside any post.

Click the name itself to view that member's profile.

If you'd like to keep track of all the replies to a particular topic without having to come back to to Forum all the time, just click the 'Notifyof Replies' link and the Forum will set you up to get an email every time something is added.

If you want a friend to read a topic, click the 'Send Topic' link and a new email message will be started for you with a link to this topic already included.

If the little file folder icons you see beside a topic heading have a red star rather than a blue star on them then there's stuff in there you haven't read yet.

If you want a quick overview of what's new in the Forum, click the line that says 'View the 10 most recent posts of the Forum' in the Statistics section of the main page

When you register with this Forum you are asked only for a bare minimum of information. You're welcome to leave it at that, but if you click the Profile button on the toolbar above you'll find lots of other tidbits you could fill in to stake out your identity. At the very least you should consider filling in your real name so others will know who you are (although it is kind of fun to guess who).

You can select a picture to go with your name (see the full collection in the Photo Album -- http://www.jubileecrc.org/photo/album.pl?album=Avatars, and you might also want to get with the times (ask any teenager) and associate yoruself with some wise or funny quote for your 'Personal Text' or 'Signature'.

When you're done with these changes just click the 'Change Profile' button at the bottom.

All of your options for contributing to the Forum  can be found in the medium Burgundy menu bars found on every Forum board index and Forum board topic page -- at the top, and  repeated again at the bottom.

On an index page, where topics are listed, you are invited to Start a new topic if need be.

On a topic page, where messages are displayed, you are invited to Reply to the those messages.

In either case you will be given a blank message form with a subject title box and a message text box for you to fill in (just like an email message). When you're done, you must click the Post button at the bottom to send your message and add it to the Forum. (Don't worry too much about mistakes -- you can change, edit and even delete your messages anytime.)

If you have trouble posting or don't like to be online while you're writing, I recommend that you compose your message in Notepad or Wordpad or any other text editor and then cut and paste into the Message box.

When calling up Jubilee Forum in a browser you will see a menu across the top which should have images for "Home", "Help", "Search", "Login", and "Register".
There should also be "Login" and "Register" text links in the top right corner.

"Register" if you're new and you'll be taken to a screen where you can select a user name and a password.  Any name will do -- most pick one they're already using for email or something. As soon as you register you'll be logged in and ready to go, but you'll probably have to wait a day to be be assigned your small group membership.

If you delete your computer's cookies or disable the Jubilee Forum's login "memory", you'll have to "Login" again when you come back. Otherwise you'll know you're "in" if you see your username in the top right corner. If you share a computer with other forum members be careful that you don't post in their name.

The Jubilee CRC Forum, as well as encouraging public participation in areas of general interest, has set aside forums to be used by small groups such as  ACTS (the early teens) and Jubilee Jubes (youths - highschool age and beyond). Confidentiality is expected in any such group, so naturally these on-line forums too are accessible only to members.

As new members join we will try to slot them quickly into the groups that they already belong to. If you get missed or you want to join a new group please email the Forum Admin (forum@jubileecrc.org) and we'll add you.

If you'd like to start an online group for some special interest or for your church committee we'll set that up for you too.
